Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid plays a critical role in supporting the financial aid office by overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations, and providing guidance to staff. This position requires strong leadership, analytical, and interpersonal skills to manage financial aid programs and services effectively.
Job Duties
• Assist director with the overall operations of the Financial Aid Office.
• Supervise/train processing staff and perform quality control.
• Dependency overrides and income adjustment requests.
• Return of Title IV calculations.
• Gainful employment reporting and oversight (as needed/required).
• Banner Set-Up (New Year and Mods) including online form development and updates.
• Disbursement processes.
• Review output files from automated processes.
• Assist FA Specialist with Consumer Information.
• Coordinate staff for FAFSA filing sessions (in-person and virtual).
• Direct loan processing including disbursements, duplicate loan reports, inactive loan reports.
• Upgrade software used as releases are available.
• Provide updates to frontline staff regarding changes in processing and regulations and assist with training at various meetings.
• Processing Incarceration emails.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 5 years extensive Financial Aid experience required.
• 3-5 years extensive experience in verification and Direct Loan processing including resolution of processing issues in both areas required.
• Experience with COD, NSLDS, Banner, BDMS and Argos required.
• Experience in presenting Financial Aid information to students, parents and other departments within the college required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to establish and meet objectives in a timely manner and by established deadlines.
• In-depth knowledge of all aspects from federal, state and institutional programs including policies, procedures and regulations.
• Must have strong analytical, conceptual, logical and problem-solving abilities and the capability to work without direct supervision.
