Testing Center and Alternative Formatting Temp Coordinator

Job Description

Job Summary

The Coordinator works collaboratively to promote, develop and implement best practices including inclusive design, coordinate the daily operation of the testing center and alternative formatting, and assessing service efficacy. The Coordinator works directly with students, faculty and staff to improve the accessibility of the UM-Dearborn campus through program and service delivery reframing disability and promoting inclusive design. 
 

Responsibilities*

Possess a working knowledge of assistive technologies and auxiliary aids.
Provide consultation, information, and referral to students with disabilities. 
Process and maintain records of student alternate format requests.
Maintain updated records of internal and external resources for accessible course materials for students. 
Serve as a resource to faculty and staff in the work to provide access to students and our campus community.
Coordinate office workflow and operational functions of the testing center.
Supervise student staff serving as office assistants, exam readers and alternative formatting process.
Maintain knowledge of all federal, state, and campus policies impacting students with disabilities including (ADA and ADAA related to higher education, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1972). 
Create Alternative Format for books, articles, for students each semester.
Reading and scribing documents, articles, and other materials to visually impaired and learning disabled students.
Administer testing and delivery of completed tests to instructors. 
Proctor exams daily.
Other duties and special projects as assigned.
 

Required Qualifications*

Bachelor/Masters' degree in related field such as Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, or Higher Education Administration.
1-2 years of professional experience in a position providing services to individuals with disabilities, with at least 1 year experience providing services at the postsecondary level. 
Extensive knowledge of ADA and ADAA related to higher education, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1972.
Knowledge of models of disability and inclusive educational design, with application in higher education.
Working knowledge of common computer applications. 
Desire and aptitude to explore and learn about assistive technology and software options.
Ability to independently prioritize and organize tasks efficiently and manage time wisely.
Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.  
Strong oral and written communication skills. 
Able to write clear and concise notes, emails, and professional correspondence. 
Demonstrated skill in respectful, sensitive communication with people who are diverse in their cultures, language groups and abilities. 
 

Work Schedule

Start date:  Monday November 11th. Term-limited Position for 10-12 weeks
Full-time, Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm with some days working remotely if desired
