Montgomery College, Takoma Park/Silver Spring, has an immediate need for a Full-time Nursing Simulation Coordinator in the Nursing Department. The work schedule is Monday – Friday 7:30 am – 4:00 pm (some flexibility is necessary to meet the demand of the nursing program). This is a Non-bargaining, Exempt Grade 31 position. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Oversee the simulation suite, which provides a safe environment for students to mimic activities that happens in an actual clinical environment. The simulation suite serves as a resource for students and faculty to practice peer-reviewed scenarios to enrich the students while they practice how to professionally care for patients, prioritizing patient care, learn to delegate, communicate and team work.
- Develop, collaborate and implement the simulation component of the nursing program. Interface with faculty, staff and students in coordinating the development of scenarios, as well as policies, procedures and practices to be used in simulations.
- Promote and coordinate the teaching, learning, and evaluation activities conducted by faculty, students and members of the community in the use of simulations and improve educational practices within the simulation program.
- Conduct analyses of occupational and academic areas to determine the requirements for revision of existing and new instructional systems including training programs.
- Supervise staff to include: prioritizing, and assigning work, setting schedules, conducting performance evaluations, coaching, developing, and training staff, hiring, and recommending disciplinary actions.
- Identify, track and monitor supplies required for simulation.
- Track numbers of students participating in simulations and hours of participation, evaluate simulation effectiveness, and collect and report data relevant to student outcomes.
- Assist with skills evaluations in the context of simulation.
- Orient new nursing and other health science faculty, staff, students to simulation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Nursing or the equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
- Five years of acute care medical-surgical nursing experience.
- Three years of teaching experience in nursing theory, clinical, or campus lab settings.
- Three years of experience in instructional design.
- Experience in simulation pedagogy.
- Effective communication (both written and verbal).
- Interpersonal skills.
- Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.
Required Certifications/Licenses
- Unencumbered Maryland and District of Columbia RN license, or eligibility for licensure.
- Current CPR-BLS certification and Certified Healthcare Simulation Education (CHSE).
Salary Range:
Hiring Range: $76,679 - $99,671 annually. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range and is based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $122,664.
