Instructor, English (Probationary Status)
Job Description
Job Duties:
- Teaching assignment may include a full range of courses within the English discipline.
- Teaching assignment may include a full range of undergraduate courses such as English Composition, both remedial and freshman, and various literature courses.
- Teaching assignment may include day, evening, weekend, and/or on-line courses.
- Teaching responsibilities include teaching courses, maintaining scheduled office hours, advising students, developing curriculum and participating in college service, and professional development activities.
- Leadership in developing and improving our academic courses.
- Community service is encouraged.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree or higher in English, Composition/Rhetoric, Literature, Linguistics, or Creative Writing or master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in English, Composition/Rhetoric, Literature, Linguistics, or Creative Writing.
- All academic degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university.
- Ability to maintain good relationships with students, staff, and community members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience at the community college level.
- Experience and/or interest in using multi-media/new instructional technology in the classroom.
- Experience and/or interest in assessment, developmental education, and student publications.
- Experience and interest in utilizing Learning Management Systems for course enhancement or delivery.
