Summary

 

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow to work in the fields of in bioinformatics, biostatistics, machine learning, vaccine informatics, microbiology, immunology, and precision medicine.

 

Responsibilities*

 

Specifically, the candidate will be responsible for processing, integrating, and analyzing large amounts of heterogenous biomedical data, primarily in the fields of vaccinology, infectious diseases, and their related areas. The candidate will do research on an interdisciplinary project, which has the research goals of enhanced mechanistical understanding of the host-vaccine/pathogen interactions and translational vaccine design and prediction. The candidate has the option to choose different research methods such as machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), and Omics data analysis. This is a collaborative project, so the candidate is required to work together with other team members in different universities.

 

This position is funded by a NIH-NIAID U24 grant (U24AI171008) that aims to develop and enhance an ontology-based integrative vaccine knowledgebase with advanced NLP or machine learning technologies, and apply such vaccine knowledgebase to address specific scientific use cases.

Required Qualifications*

 

Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Microbiology, Immunology, or related field, or equivalent experience.

The ideal candidate should have a sound and proven data science background and excellent quantitative skills.

Demonstrate an understanding of both science and informatics.

Good communication skills.

 

Desired Qualifications*

 

Experience in vaccine research

Experience in ontology

 

Work Schedule

 

End Date: Three years
