General Summary

The successful candidate will be able to teach all levels of photography courses, including but not limited to introductory and intermediate digital photography, studio and location lighting, theories of composition, Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, and photography history and concepts, teaching studio photography, and professional practices. This candidate should be comfortable working with Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, and Premier Pro. 

Curriculum for this class is provided by the college. Candidates must be technically proficient in Blackboard (preferably Blackboard ULTRA).

Specific Position Duties

  • Teach courses via on-ground, online and hybrid or web-enhanced delivery modes as assigned. 
  • Complete all required reports, such as attendance, Early Alerts, student progress reports, grade submissions, and student outcome assessments by the deadlines. 
  •  Meet all class periods and start and end classes promptly. 
  • Teach assigned curriculum and make use of required texts and materials. 
  • Provide students with a complete syllabus before the first day of class that includes information on course description, objectives, assignments, grading policies, and contact information. 
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance and provide data on student attendance (no-shows, last day of attendance, etc.), promptly. 
  •  Maintain updated and accurate grading records in Blackboard and submit all final grades by the designated due date. 
  • Provide consistent and timely feedback to students regarding progress and grades on assignments. 
  •  Prepare for each class meeting and consider learning strategies that address diverse learning styles and a diverse community college student population. Class content and assessment methods should relate to course objectives. 
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with a variety of instructional delivery modes, including synchronous and asynchronous online teaching.  

Minimum Qualifications

  • Any Associate’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university AND demonstrated competencies (e.g. – Relevant technical training, certification, experience, etc.) in the teaching discipline or related field; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in the teaching discipline or a related field; OR
  • Any Master’s degree or higher AND a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate course hours in the teaching discipline or a related field
