Job Description
CASC assists Staten Island residents, age 60 and older, to live as independently as possible in the community. We do this by working hand-in-hand with older adults, respecting their right to make decisions for themselves, honoring their life experiences and heritage, and recognizing the importance of friends, relatives and community in creating supportive environments for people as they age. Position Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work or related Master’s level degree
- Minimum 8 years full-time experience in social services, health or behavioral health
- Minimum 5 years progressive supervisory experience
- Minimum 5 years experience in the field of Aging/Geriatrics is required
Requisite Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with on-line client record databases (Peer Place/STARS a plus)
- Excellent crisis management skills
- Excellent teaching/training/coaching/motivational skills
- Flexibility with changes in policies, procedures, assignments and directives from government that will require creative problem solving
- Detail oriented: ensure that all policies, procedures and requirements for government contracts are met during required timeframes
- Strong background in program management and strategic planning
- Leadership: strong interpersonal skills, ability to identify strengths in program management staff and provide supervision, training, guidance to improve job performance, create collaborative work environment and lead programs and their staff to work toward common goals
- Self-motivated: able to work independently, be flexible, work well under pressure and handle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Analytical: reviews options and considers implications prior to making decisions, develops systematic and logical procedures, presents clear and logical solutions
- Must be a proven strategic thinker, problem solver, and able to manage multiple priorities
- Understands diversity: works well with colleagues and clients with diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and can guide staff in meeting these goals
- A commitment to lead by example, passion for creating change, and dedication to the mission
Responsibilities
- Report to President/CEO and working collaboratively to assure efficient agency program operations
- Work with President/CEO to implement and monitor agency-wide administrative policies and procedures
- Lead and supervise a team of assigned program managers
- With CASC fiscal department, responsible for monitoring expenses to ensure programs remain within budgets
- Work with President/CEO, Fiscal and Senior Management in developing and expanding program initiatives and grant/contract opportunities
- Implement processes and procedures to streamline operations and increase productivity
- Maintain familiarity with all relevant government contract standards, including updates to standards and procedures
- Ensure compliance with regulations and standards set forth by our funding sources
- Monitor timeliness and accuracy of program reports submitted by the assigned program managers
- Review program reports before being distributed to the funding sources
- Develop and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness
- Provide decision-making and direction that aligns with the agency’s strategic plan and priorities
- Help establish and track progress towards organization-wide goals
- Ensure successful cross coordination between CASC programs
- Represent CASC at committees, coalitions and meetings with key stakeholders, as well as community events including presentation
- In the absence of the CEO, lead the agency and coordinate with the Board of Directors
