Position description

The University of California, San Diego, Department of Surgery (https://surgery.ucsd.edu/) and Dr. Rebekah White's NIH-funded translational research lab at UCSD Moores Cancer Center, are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and seek applicants for Project Scientist positions.

The lab is studying novel ways to diagnose and treat pancreatic cancer and one of the main areas of interest is studying non-thermal ablation with irreversible electroporation (IRE) as a way to generate anti-tumor immune responses (https://doi.org/10.1158/2326-6066.CIR-19-0101), both in pre-clinical mouse models and in humans.

The selected candidates will be part of a highly collaborative environment with exposure to multiple scientific disciplines and levels of researchers, including students and clinicians.

The successful candidates will be responsible for designing and performing experiments as well as teaching and mentoring trainees on how to conduct research in the lab.

Appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Project Scientist level based on background and years of experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have a MD or equivalent, PhD in health related fields, or MD/PhD.

Candidates must also have at least two years of post-doctoral cancer research experience.

Preferred qualifications

Candidate with expertise in tumor immunology and experience in mouse tumor models are preferred.
