Job Description Summary

 

West Virginia Northern is seeking applicants for a full-time, EMS Program Director.

This position is an on-campus position with duties on all three campuses (New Martinsville, Wheeling, and Weirton, West Virginia).

The EMS Program Director/Instructor, under general supervision, prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction of all emergency medical services programs. Develops program syllabi, goals and objectives. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares budget requests. Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Attends staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences. Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area. Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts. This position will report to the Executive Director, Business Services and Corporate Training.

Nature of Work:
Classroom and practical instruction. Develops curriculum, manages operational functions or program including record keeping and coordination of resources. Reports to the Executive Director, Business Services and Corporate Training.

Position will remain open until candidate is selected.

 

Responsibilities and Duties include but are not limited to

 

  • Displays a high level of effort and commitment to performing work; operates effectively within the organizational structure; demonstrates trustworthiness and responsible behavior.
  • Develops program and course outlines, goals, and objectives.
  • Prepares lesson plans for classroom instruction for clinical research professional courses.
  • Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
  • Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
  • Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of the students.
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
  • Maintains program certification requirements, as appropriate.
  • Requests and maintains supplies and equipment and prepares required budget requests.
  • Participate in college and community activities.
  • Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences and by reading professional literature in the related vocational field.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree, required.
  • Master's Degree, preferred.

Experience:
  • 3 Years+ EMS experience as a paramedic with current WV and/or National Registry credential

Certification & Licenses:
  • WV EMS ALS instructor certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months of initial employment
  • NAEMT instructor certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months of initial employment
  • American Heart Association instructor certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months of initial employment

  • Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to schedule and proficiently cover all required curriculum within the allotted time frame for program.
  • Supervise and direct Adjunct instructors, if necessary.
  • Ability to travel to multiple sites including Weirton, WV and New Martinsville, WV.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft applications Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Ability to market programs and recruit students
  • Demonstrated ability to work in with students, faculty, and staff from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to understand principles of student advising. Experience in student advising a plus.
