Second Chance is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit that provides people, materials and the environment with a second chance. We deconstruct buildings and homes, salvage usable materials and make those available to the public through our 250,000 square feet of retail space. With the revenue generated, we provide job training and workforce development for those with employment obstacles in the Baltimore region.

We are seeking an experienced driver to join our growing transportation team. The successful candidate must possess the experience and knowledge of how to load and unload donated furniture, household appliances and building materials to not compromise the value of re-usable materials.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Pick-up and assist in loading donated materials from collection points in the Maryland, Virginia and Delaware region. There are times when travel may take you as for north as Connecticut and south to the Carolinas.
• Occasional day trips to other states should also be expected, as directed by Transportation Manager as well as staff of the Donations Department.
• Work in a team environment daily.
• Unload donations at warehouse and not compromise value of donations.
• Assist with truck maintenance activities and preventive maintenance scheduling.
• Direct activity of truck helper (if assigned).
• Efficiently carry out all orders and duties assigned by Transportation Manager and Donations Department.
• Comply with all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and safety regulations.
• Report any unsafe vehicle conditions to Transportation Manager.
• Occasionally required to drive to out-of-city and out-of-state donation sites.
• Document and report accidents and incidents immediately.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Must have a current valid Maryland Driver’s license.
• Must have a valid DOT Certificate.
• Must have at least two years’ experience driving up to a 26’ foot box truck.
• Must provide a copy of current MVA driver’s record.
• This position requires our drivers and crew members to arrive at Second Chance no later than 6:15am.
• Maintain required company and industry maintenance records.
• Will be required to lift and move donated materials in a typical work day.
• Must be capable of lifting up to 75 lbs.
• Must possess mature, professional interpersonal skills to communicate with managers, donors, customers and other employees.
• Salary commensurate with experience.'

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.50 - $22.00 per hour
