Responsibilities

Reports to the Architect & Project Manager and assists in the planning, programming and design of Institute projects. Assists in related space, operational and financial analysis projects as requested.  Indirectly reports to the Facilities Information Manager for tasks related to the Insite system database and wayfinding.

Planning and Design:

  

  • Programs, plans, designs, develops, drafts and documents various construction and renovation projects for DFCI in accordance with industry practice and departmental procedures.
    • Participates in, initiates, and facilitates meetings with various departments to compile data for program and project requirements for multiple, inter-related design and construction projects to be completed through in-house workorder renovations.
    • Coordinates with internal resources and external consultants as required to fully develop scope of projects. Reviews design criteria, specifications, space requirements and adherence to DFCI space and finish standards.
    • Creates construction documents of small-scale projects for construction.
    • Creates graphic design drawings to communicate design intent of various projects and to support the department as needed with graphic design needs.
    • Coordinate event layouts and assembly permits across campus.
    • Update and print institute tour books & maps.
    • Other duties as assigned

Project Management:

 

  • Develops, documents and manages a variety of Institute projects and initiatives.
    • Assists and supports the Project Managers in design and user group coordination as required to execute projects including ensuring project approval process, and budget development and approval.
    • Work with facilities operations to manage workorder renovations.
    • Responsible for documenting and maintaining Institute CADD, Revit, design and finish standards.
    • Work with vendors to request quotes required for in-house renovations.
    • Maintain and update the AutoCAD and Revit base files.
    • In collaboration with the Facilities Information Manager, maintain the space plans for the INSITE space data base and manage INSITE data reporting.
    • Manage the shared drive document data base.
    • Assist with signage projects.
    • Assist in the management of the intern architect program.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Architecture or Architecture professional with architectural degree from an accredited US school required
  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Strong design and communication skills
  • Good organization, scheduling, and coordination skills
  • Personable and diplomatic verbal communication skills

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities, assist in the management of the intern architect program.
