Job Description

FINANCIAL ASSISTANT 3, Center for International Studies (CIS)-Security Studies Program (SSP), to provide complex and diverse financial support by reviewing and processing financial transactions such as purchases, credit cards, journal vouchers, requests for payment, and travel reports with primary source documentation and in compliance with MIT policies and procedures.  Responsibilities include verifying purchasing card transactions, reconciling accounts, and fixing discrepancies by submitting journal vouchers; reviewing monthly transactions to ensure that cost object expenses and revenues are accurate, timely, complete, and properly documented; reviewing and approving RFPs, requisitions, and invoices; tracking payments and reconciling invoices; and working with internal and external vendors to ensure timely payment and that billing discrepancies are settled.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  high school diploma or its equivalent; at least five years of professional administrative/office/finance/accounting experience; excellent organizational, customer service, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills; meticulous attention to detail; strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience organizing events; discretion and good judgment with confidential information; and proficiency with MS Office/Outlook and willingness to learn new programs and software as needed.  Must be able follow through on tasks; function both independently and as part of a team; and work with a diverse group of faculty, students, staff, and sponsors.  PREFERRED: bachelor's degree; MIT experience; and experience with the systems and tools used at MIT, e.g., Atlas, Concur, SAP, Coupa, Zoom, and Slack.  Job #24108-6

Salary range: $27.00 - 35.00/hr., based on experience and internal equity

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position. A hybrid schedule is available working three days/week in the office.
