Title: Chief Mission Officer

Report to: Chief Executive Officer

Hours: Full-time, hybrid flexibility, exempt position within 1-2 hours of our Malvern, PA office.

Start date: September 23, 2024

Overview: The Chief Mission Officer coaches and equips nonprofit leaders (specifically Executive Directors and board chairs of small affiliates) in the Bridge of Hope network as they build strong mission engagement and programming within their affiliates/sites. The C.M.O. collaboratively encourages and influences network leaders to increase their reach, impact and outcomes of Bridge of Hope programming and also works to expand the Bridge of Hope network into new locations. The C.M.O. oversees a team of four Location Outreach and Support staff.

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications

  • An understanding of and commitment to the mission of Bridge of Hope: To engage Christian faith communities in ending family homelessness through neighboring relationships that demonstrate Christ’s love.
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in relevant field preferred.
  • National/federated nonprofit experience preferred.
  • Experience with/awareness of homelessness issues and social service field.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in nonprofit leadership, including program implementation, managing a nonprofit, staff supervision, program administration, and board development.
  • Commitment to and belief in the ability of Christian faith communities to positively impact families facing homelessness.
  • Familiarity with front-line work and research on homelessness, poverty, housing, etc.
  • Demonstrated personal initiative.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Strong facilitation/presenter skills required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Ability to motivate, influence and encourage leaderships and groups.
  • Ability to mediate between different points of view and seek to integrate diverse perspectives.
  • Ability to work from a strengths-based position coaching individuals in the development of nonprofit and leadership skills.
  • Ability to engage in brave conversations that build rapport and results.
  • Committed to excellence in nonprofit, faith-based services.
  • High proficiency and comfort in computer technology essentials, including Microsoft Office products (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Share-Point and Planner), and videoconferencing.
  • Position Base: This position allows for the possibility of a work-from-home employment arrangement within 1-2 hour drive of the national office in southeastern PA. In-office time will be expected monthly as needed.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel will be required, likely 4-6 times per year, including attendance at the annual Bridge of Hope conference. The typical length of travel is 2-3 days.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Proactively build strong relationships with location leaders (especially Executive Directors and board chairs) by providing high quality coaching, resourcing, training, and support. (40% of time)
  • Promote Bridge of Hope’s mission, core values, benchmarks, program standards and nonprofit best practices to ensure successful services for homeless families and Neighboring Volunteers. (20% of time)
  • Lead and supervise the Location Support and Outreach Team, comprised of 4 staff. (20% of time)
  • Oversee promotion and outreach to new locations through thought leadership, digital marketing and relationship building across the country. (10% of time)
  • Other internal leadership roles (10% of time)

  • Models Integrity and Ministry Values: Genuinely cares about people especially families facing homelessness and Christian faith communities who seek genuine ministry together; communicates openly and honestly to foster trust relationships among colleagues and those we serve; fosters personal growth and demonstrates reverence; lives out the Bridge of Hope values of following Jesus, engaging the church and choosing hope.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
