The Associate Registrar will report to the Registrar. Duties and responsibilities shall be, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the department, including student online admissions applications, registration, adds, drops, reinstatements, and withdrawals
  • Serves as SEVP Designated School Official to assist prospective International Students in obtaining student visas, maintains file systems for International documents, and works closely with NMJC Athletic Department to assist International Student-Athletes.
  • Evaluate incoming transcripts, award appropriate credit, and post-credits electronically to the student record system
  • Serves as project manager for the degree audit program (Degree Works); maintains the system, provides training to faculty and staff, and works closely with the IT Department to troubleshoot any upgrades or issues
  • Maintains and upgrades academic records archives, Banner student database, webpages, degree audit program, and other electronic databases and information systems.
  • Processes student enrollment verifications, suspension/probation letters, and updates student demographic data.
  • Prepares Evision, Banner, and National Student Clearinghouse reports
  • Provides previous, current, and prospective students, staff, faculty, and administration with information as needed.
  • Assists in coordinating the Commencement ceremonies and related record-keeping activities tied to graduation.
  • Assumes the duties/role of the Registrar when that person is out.
  • Actively participates in the institutional goals and objectives designed to support the college's mission.
  • Participates in a process of continual personal and professional improvement.
  • May serve on various campus committees as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
  • Nothing contained herein shall limit the President in assigning the employee to any of the various college activities for which he/she would be qualified in order to meet the needs of New Mexico Junior College.

 

Qualifications

 

Associate’s degree; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience in higher education student services preferred.
Two (2) years of experience with student registration OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of College and department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of student management systems, Banner, and Degree Works preferred.
  • Knowledge of National Student Clearinghouse policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of advising and evaluating coursework.
  • Skill in working with student services or academic departments in higher education.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer, standard computer software, and some specialized software.
  • Ability to deal effectively with various personalities while maintaining confidentiality.

 

Additional Qualifications

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.

Additional Information

 

This is a twelve-month exempt position. Standard benefits apply. The full pay range for this position is $45,758.00 to $66,660.00
