Starting salary for this position is: $3,239 (Monthly)

Employees starting at the entry step of this range receive salary step advancement after six months and every 12 months thereafter. If an employee starting at anything higher than the entry step of the range, will have salary step advancement after 12 months and salary step advancement every 12 months thereafter until they reach the top of the salary range. Each salary step advancement will be approximately a 5% increase in salary.

SFCC is one of two accredited community colleges that comprise the Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS). Serving about 6,000 students, SFCC endeavors to be an educational leader and a responsive partner with the community and region, offering access to relevant programs of the highest quality. We offer a large liberal arts/transfer program (approximately 75% of total enrollment) as well as state-of-the-art professional technical programs (about 25%). In addition to serving the urban and suburban population in greater Spokane, CCS provides educational services to rural communities throughout a 12,302 square mile region in Eastern Washington. This region includes all of Spokane, Stevens, Whitman, Ferry, and Pend Oreille Counties as well as portions of Lincoln County.

The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Outreach, Onboarding & Retention Assistant in the SFCC Admissions and Registration Division.

JOB SUMMARY

Under general supervision of the Director of Community Outreach and Dual Enrollment, the primary purpose of this position is to serve, support, and meet the needs of the division and staff, as well as work collaboratively with the other division assistants.
This position provides support to the Outreach Retention area within the Office of Community Outreach and Dual Enrollment and provides initial contact and ongoing services to students.

This position will organize and prioritize a variety of projects and assignments essential to the division, including, but not limited to: CRM, scheduling students for division staff; maintaining data; organizing supplies and student resources; assisting with outreach; as well as developing and communicating office policies, procedures, and standards. Occasional evening/weekend availability is required (work hours will be flexed to accommodate evening/weekend events).

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide administrative support for division staff. Assist with the coordination of office operations, screen calls and visitors. Provide general office support for the area, including front desk coverage. *
  • Assist with the customer relationship management (CRM) software, respond to CRM inquiries, run reports and other operational needs within the CRM. *
  • Assist the Director in providing services to students. *
  • Maintain a flexible and adaptable attitude, readily adjusting to changing priorities and unforeseen circumstances. *
  • Provide program information to students and the public; screen inquiries, and schedule appointments. *
  • Assist students with general information on SFCC processes and answer related questions. *
  • Attend Outreach events as needed, including tabling, set up and take down of events both during regular working hours and occasional evenings and weekends. *
  • Coordinate travel as needed. *
  • Regularly attend team meetings to stay informed of project updates, contribute insights, and coordinate efforts with colleagues. *
  • Research and analyze data and create statistical reports as requested by the director (i.e., using Excel, Access, Word or other specialized software programs). *
  • Assist the Campus Events and 25Live Coordinator in communicating event information, set up and take down of events, and technology and media equipment support as appropriate. Serve as the primary backup for the Campus Events and 25Live Coordinator. *
  • Monitor and track all purchases and create expenditure reports. *
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork skills by effectively communicating and cooperating with colleagues on various projects. *
  • Assist in creating, formatting, and updating department forms, flyers, and informational materials, including web pages. *
  • Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions. *
  • Comply with district policies, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statutes and collective bargaining agreements. *
  • Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned. *
  • Assist with area strategic planning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience using computers, spreadsheets, database, and word processing functions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Two or more years of full-time office/clerical experience.
  • Experience working in a higher education environment.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft programs.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality under Family Education Rights & Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Associate degree or higher from an accredited institution.

 

CONDITIONS/TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT



TOTAL COMPENSATION WITH BENEFITS: $54,792 - $69,126.

Total compensation is an estimate based upon adding the following amounts together:


  • Base compensation of $38,868 - $51,588 , plus
  • Current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates, plus
  • Median retirement fund contributions.

The actual total will vary depending upon each employee's enrollment choices.

Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. An offer of employment will not carry with it any responsibility or obligation on the part of the district to sponsor an H1-B visa. In addition, the Community Colleges of Spokane maintains a drug-free work environment and prohibits all smoking in the college buildings and state-owned vehicles. Must be able to successfully work in and promote a multicultural work and education environment.

Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant’s suitability and competence to perform in the position. Once an applicant is chosen for a position, they are required to complete and submit a declaration regarding sexual misconduct and investigation per state law.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work is performed in a semi-open office environment with frequent interruptions and background noise.
  • Work directly with students/clients.
  • Move up to 25 lbs. occasionally.
  • Occasional to frequent change in position from sedentary, standing, stooping and walking.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Full-time schedule (12-month, 40-hours a week).
  • 6-month probationary period.
  • This position is overtime eligible.
  • Criminal background check is required.
  • This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement. Membership is optional.
