Post Doctoral Associate - Sahu Lab

A postdoctoral associate position is available in the Sahu Lab of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh. The laboratory's primary focus is to develop regenerative rehabilitation strategies to promote healthy communication between skeletal muscle and the brain in vulnerable populations such as an aging population and individuals chronically exposed to arsenic in their drinking water. The laboratory uses pre-clinical mouse models to understand the mechanisms underlying the beneficial effects of musculoskeletal rehabilitation on skeletal muscle and cognitive health.

The candidate will perform in vitro (mouse and humans) and in vivo experiments (mouse). The candidate is expected to have experience with cell culture techniques, animal surgery, functional testing, exercise implementation, blood and tissue extraction, molecular assays (including but not limited to PCR and Wester Blotting), ELISAs, immunofluorescene imaging, and bioinformatics approaches.

Ideal candidates will be motivated, collaborative, and interested in solving problems and developing new experimental methods. They will also hold a PhD in Environmental & Occupational Health or a related field.
