About us

The School of Security Studies at King‘s College London is dedicated to the understanding of security issues in an increasingly complex and uncertain world. Harnessing the depth and breadth of expertise across the War Studies and Defence Studies Departments, and the King’s Institute for Applied Security Studies, we are one of the largest multi-disciplinary communities of scholars in the world engaged in the teaching and research of all aspects of conflict, war, security and defence.

About the role

Are you an enthusiastic and driven communications professional eager to make a significant impact? We are seeking a talented Senior Communications Officer to join our team at the School of Security Studies.

In this role, you will work closely with the School Communications Manager to oversee both internal and external communications. Your contributions will be vital in enhancing the School’s research profile among staff, students, alumni and the wider public.

Your meticulous attention to detail in copy-editing will ensure our messaging is clear, concise and compelling. Additionally, your ability to identify newsworthy angles and craft captivating stories will be crucial in showcasing our research excellence and expertise.

As a confident self-starter with a proven track record of managing communication projects from inception to delivery, you will use your creativity to pitch new ideas and advance our communications strategy. Beyond content creation, you will also support the planning and execution of both online and in-person events.

If you are passionate about communications and eager to contribute to a vibrant academic community, we would love to hear from you.

This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract. The role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing for both remote work and on-site presence at our office located at King’s Strand Campus in London.
