Job Summary
Administers and coordinates Human Resources processes. Responsible for maintaining employee records and files. Assists with recruitment, onboarding and offboarding processes. Conducts research for Human Resources projects and provides support to a variety of HR initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Initiates, maintains and updates employee files and other relevant information in HRIS systems.
  • Compiles, analyzes, and generates customized reports for administrative and external sources.
  • Implements, tracks, and maintains databases of various employee information to include spreadsheets, key performance indicators and other electronic files.
  • Processes documents on new, current, and former employees in HRIS systems.
  • Processes a variety of administrative tasks to include document control, continuous improvement projects, and managing employee files.
  • Assists and supports in evaluating and processing all hiring packets for new hires.
  • Assist, participates and helps conduct trainings in the areas of new hire orientation, HRIS system, recruitment and in other areas as assigned.
  • Serves as support administrator for our training systems to include LinkedIn Learning and Safe Colleges.
  • Provides support in reviewing and revising all job descriptions and tracks the approval process.
  • Assists with accounts payable, purchasing, vendor agreements and budget projects.
  • Oversees the designation of job posting questions to ensure they aligned with the job requirements.
  • Provides peopleadmin support to all hiring managers and ensures their access and controls.
  • Performs criminal background checks on new hires and TSC volunteers.
  • Conducts verifications of employments and assists with unemployment claims.
  • Oversees student worker and work-studies to include creating their work schedules, approving time cards, and performance evaluations.
  • Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite.
  • Completes duties and responsibilities in compliance with college standards, policies and guidelines.
  • Promotes positive morale and teamwork within the functional unit and provides exceptional customer service to students, faculty and the community.
  • Uses interpersonal skills and makes sound judgments to decide how duties and responsibilities are completed between coworkers, the supervisory chain, faculty, staff, students, and customers.
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored by Texas Southmost College (TSC).
  • Supports the values and institutional goals as defined in the College’s Strategic Plan.
  • Assists with the process for systematic review and evaluation of the planning unit per the model adopted by the College, including the development and monitoring of outcomes and plans of action for improvement based on the assessment of those outcomes and plans.
  • Participates in the process for systematic review and evaluation per the institutional effectiveness model adopted by the College.
  • Working hours may include evenings, holidays or weekends depending on deadline requirements and special events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and an understanding of information technology and relational database applications.

  • Proficient in the use of e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software and use of the Internet to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others.

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college
  • General knowledge of human resource processes and procedures?
  • Experience in working with an HRIS.

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • One (1) to three (3) years of direct Human Resources experience.
  • SHRM/HRCI certification
