Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

As a member of the central Donor Relations team, the Associate Program Director of Donor Relations, Annual and Leadership Gifts will lead the stewardship strategy and coordinate all donor relations efforts focused on annual gifts to the university. The Associate Program Director will both maintain and implement new annual giving and lead donor stewardship initiatives that focus on retention and build a strong pipeline of engaged and informed donors. This position will collaborate with the university’s central pipeline development team and utilize giving data to serve as a valued partner in reaching fundraising goals through employing stewardship initiatives which demonstrate impact, build community and strengthen relationships with this important group of stakeholders. They will serve as the strategic lead and point-person for development colleagues in each school and college in establishing and managing a unified campus-wide annual donor stewardship program.

This position will plan and execute (in conjunction with the Office of Special Events) exciting and well-established annual presidential donor relations events that are geared toward this level of donor including: Terrapin Loyal (for donors who have given 30 years or more to the university), the Presidential Parents Leadership Brunch during the university’s Family Weekend, and collaborate on launching, planning, and executing the bi-annual Maryland Women’s Society event and meetings.

This position will manage impact communications for central and Presidential priority funds such as the Maryland Promise Program, Keep Me Maryland Fund, Student Crisis Fund, Campus Pantry and the Maryland Women’s Society Fund. Additionally, this position will conceptualize, execute and enhance strategic annual giving donor recognition communications, donor anniversary outreach, and oversee campus-wide stewardship touchpoints for the university’s annual giving events (Giving Day; Giving Tuesday.).

This position will manage efforts to increase donor retention and offer cultivation opportunities through building out and expanding university-wide donor recognition programs focused on annual giving and leadership donors and manage their strategic communication and outreach efforts.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university.

Experience:
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in donor relations, events, annual giving, development, advancement communications, or related fields.
  • Candidates must also demonstrate an understanding of the role of donor relations and stewardship in a successful fundraising program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to interact with donors and senior-level executives and administrators.
  • Self-starter with the ability to lead and execute effectively and efficiently.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to donors and the university.
  • Strong customer service experience.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and execute multiple projects under demanding deadlines.
  • Exceptional writing and interpersonal skills.

Preferences:

  • Experience within higher education.
  • Front line fundraising experience.

Salary Range is $90,000 – $110,000.

This position allows for a combination of in-person and telework days as approved by the supervisor. Guidance regarding hybrid work is subject to change at any time to align with operational or business needs
