ASML US, including its affiliates and subsidiaries, bring together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. We design, develop, integrate, market and service these advanced machines, which enable our customers - the world's leading chipmakers - to reduce the size and increase the functionality of their microchips, which in turn leads to smaller, more powerful consumer electronics. Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, Netherlands, and we have 18 office locations around the United States including main offices inChandler, Arizona, San Jose and San Diego, California, Wilton, Connecticut, and Hillsboro, Oregon.

The role of the Robust Design intern is to utilize material degradation concepts to evaluate and improve on existing Reliability testing methodology for ASML application.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Work in a lab environment

  • Apply Material Science knowledge to Reliability testing methodologies

  • Develop test plans with support of expert local engineers

  • Design, build, and execute test setups.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams of scientists and engineers to investigate scientific and technical problems and challenges; evaluate and recommend solutions.

  • The goal of the internship is for you to learn about working in a corporate setting and to provide your knowledge in solving real world problems in a team environment.

  • Intern will be required to document and present their findings as well as make an end of summer presentation to the group about what they achieved during their internship.

Education and Experience

  • Studying towards an advanced degree in Materials Science, Electrical/Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or Reliability Engineering

  • Understanding and ability to explain basic Reliability concepts

  • Ability to translate, statistically analyze data, and effectively report problems and solutions through written and/or graphical formats

  • Hands on lab experience with test bench set up and execution

  • Basic thin film knowledge

  • Six sigma preferred

  • Proficient in MS Office Applications specifically Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Skills

  • Possess strong ownership characteristics and commitment to achieving results on time

  • Excellent written and oral communicative skills

  • Have experience with laboratory equipment such as vacuum pumps, microscopes, thermal test setups

  • Be a demonstrated "team player" with a quality orientation and interpersonal skills

  • Have strong problem solving skills and the ability to take initiative

  • Be willing to be "wrong" at times and be open to the ideas of others

  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • The employee may be required to travel based on business needs.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • The environment generally is moderate in temperature and noise level.

  • Extended periods of time in a clean room environment should be expected. Requires gowning in Class 10K gowning protocol.

  • May need to work in labs with equipment that emit high-pitched noise.

  • May spend extended periods of time at a computer workstation.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. * 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
