Position Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Leitner Center, The Program and Monitoring and Evaluating (M & E) Manager is responsible for the overall implementation of the Leitner Center’s program supporting the training of public interest lawyers and advocates in Asia.

 

This will include coordination and liaising with partner organizations; grant reporting and M&E; financial oversight of program expenditures; training program design and implementation integrated with other Leitner Center programs

 

Essential Functions        

  • Designs, organizes, and implements the annual Fordham Innovators Program for public interest lawyers and advocates, focusing on innovations using new technologies and advocacy approaches;
  • Designs, organizes, and implements, by engaging partners and vendors, an annual online Regional Course on Public Interest Lawyering in Asia and semi-annual in-person public interest law trainings in partner institutions;
  • Manages overall administrative operations for the program, including budget oversight, project management, grant reporting, and administration, including through collaboration with Program Assistant;
  • Monitors and evaluates the implementation of program activities using federal government guidelines and prepares quarterly funder reports;
  • Serves as a key point of contact for program partners and collaborators, and facilitates periodic planning, coordination, and de-conflicting meetings;
  • Monitors risks and security challenges potentially impacting program activities and the safety of program partners and participants;
  • Supports the design and implementation of program activities, including partnership agreements, performance indicators, event planning, communication and coordination;

Management Responsibilities  

Guides work of other employees who perform essentially the same work and/or student workers. Organizes, sets priorities, schedules and reviews work, but is generally not responsible for final decisions in hiring, performance management or compensation.

 

Additional Functions      

  • Works with the Executive Director to identify opportunities for scholarship and integration with Leitner Center student programs;
  • Anticipates and plans for potential reprogramming needs and prepares detailed reprogramming requests, including proposals, budgets, and other support documents; and
  • Liaises with Fordham staff and administration regarding program matters, including financial reporting, event planning, participant enrollment, student visas, travel arrangements, etc.

 

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience        

  • Juris Doctor, or equivalent advanced degree in law, focusing on international law, human rights, and public interest lawyering;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in progressively senior roles in international public interest work including program management and implementation and working with different cultures and legal systems;
  • Experience teaching seminars and trainings for lawyers and other public interest advocates;
  • Experience in designing and implementing human rights and public interest lawyering projects, including all aspects of funder engagement, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting.

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills; strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team with staff and partners from diverse backgrounds in a positive, collaborative, and inclusive environment;
  • Verbal, written, and interpersonal savvy, with superior judgment at all times.
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Knowledge of or fluency in other languages.

 

Minimum Starting Salary: $115,200

 

Maximum Starting Salary: $115,200

 

Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
