The Notre Dame ACE Academies Program(NDAA) at the University of Notre Dame is seeking applications for the Coordinator of School Formation. NDAA, housed in the university’s Institute for Educational Initiatives, partners with Dioceses to revitalize and strengthen existing Catholic schools in historically underserved communities. Through responsive support, formation, and coaching, we ensure operational vitality, academic excellence, and strong Catholic school culture, setting students on the path to college and heaven.
This twelve-month, permanent hire position includes responsibilities for adult formation, leadership coaching, and program evaluation. The Coordinator strengthens the Notre Dame ACE Academy’s embedded support model through partnerships, coaching, and professional development. This individual is responsible for enacting the school culture and academic vision of adult formation and programmatic implementation with each partner (Arch)Diocese. This role focuses on directly overseeing all aspects of adult formation with regard to school culture and teaching and learning. The coordinator will coach diocesan leader participants who are working to transform and revitalize their schools through goal setting and implementing the highest leverage school culture and teaching and learning practices.
Reporting to the Coordinator of Adult Formation and Leadership Development responsibilities include:
School Revitalization and Adult Formation
- Implements the NDAA model for adult formation, including the articulation of a framework and the development of a five-year professional formation program for Regional Directors embedded in NDAA partner schools and diocese.
- Partners with the Coordinator of Adult Formation and Leadership Development to provide leadership professional learning communities, professional development for teachers and leaders, network collaboratives, and in and out of network school visits.
- Cultivate leadership qualities in each school leader, including, but not limited to, effective communication, ability to motivate others, management of adults, and development of strong, healthy teams. Support the school leader in developing and executing the school’s vision. Assist the leader in developing a grander vision for what is possible within the Catholic school.
- Establish and maintain relationships with partner schools and diocese.
Leadership Coaching
- Provide targeted coaching on effective change management, school, adult and student culture.
- Provide school revitalization and turnaround coaching to partner school leaders and diocesan leadership representatives in teaching and learning as it relates to school culture.
- Supports all Regional Directors. Provides weekly support and coaching to each regional partner.
Program Evaluation
- Actively participate in feasibility studies collecting data on (1) school culture (2) classroom culture (3) adult professional culture (4) parent involvement (5) school-community partnerships and support data collection in the area of teaching/learning and leadership
- Work with the Coordinator of Adult Formation to develop and implement a robust dashboard to measure school culture program effectiveness. Regular touchpoints with the Research and Evaluation team to monitor and adjust program interventions.
- Supervises transparent, timely, and accurate reporting of school culture data to the IEI Research and Evaluation team, diocesan dashboard, ACE leadership teams and each diocesan partners.
- Prepares bi-annual programmatic and culture dashboard updates to the Director of ACE Academies and partners to ensure constant program development and improvement.
- Supports the analysis of program evaluation data to adjust and refine the NDAA model of embedded formation.
The Coordinator requires travel by car and plane to multiple school sites each semester and hosting school leadership teams on campus during the academic year and summer on the campus of the University of Notre Dame. Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree (5 years) or advanced certification beyond Bachelor’s in Educational Leadership
- 5+ years of experience as a school leader or diocesan leadership
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coaching teachers and/or school leaders
- Experience at a high-quality school or network of schools
- Experience in growing and/or revitalizing a traditional Catholic school
