Network Project Engineer - 24-015 - San Diego, California


AUSGAR Technologies has an exciting new opportunity for a Network Project Engineer to join our team of smart and innovative technical team members working in the Point Loma area of San Diego, California.

The Medium Displacement Unmanned Surface Vessel (MDUSV) or Sea Hunter/Seahawk project has an opportunity for a qualified Network Project Engineer seeking a significant leadership opportunity to serve as the project's Lead Developer, Networks, Command, Control, Communications, Computers & Navigation (C4N) Representative depending on the selected individual's experience, skill sets and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) series designator.


Project is primarily charged by the sponsor with executing Test & Evaluation (T&E) efforts to meet Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) developmental requirements for the Navy's work to implement Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) presence within the Fleet.

  • Work with Operational Risk Management (ORM) in a T&E environment.
  • Communicate with high-level principals with the Program Office and stakeholders: Deputy Program Manager (DPM).
  • Principal/Assistant Project Manager (PAPM), Assistant Program Manager (APM), as well as the active-duty Navy to which the USVs often subordinate when deployed in Fleet developmental operations and exercises.
  • Host and lead a weekly Individual Transition Plan (IPT) meeting via Teams that includes high level participation by several entities spanning the nation to include Echelon II level sponsors.
  • Maintain the project's Kanban (tracking action items, etc.) and conduct regular briefings for project personnel, including government and contractor employees.
  • Support the assigned C4N Department's work needs and operating the USVs via remote capabilities (as needed/assigned).
  • Implement security measures to protect system data and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Collaborate with vendors and support system integration.
  • Document system configurations and procedures.
  • Provide technical support and training to other teams.
  • Support comms team in validating and integrating new equipment.
  • Order computer parts, tools and lab equipment.
  • Monitor Continuous performance and optimization.
  • Support sea trials.
  • TDY to support vessels maintenance/updates.
  • Network Project Engineer Lead duties:
  • Daily supervision and upkeep of laptops, servers, switches and other computer systems. This involves ensuring compliance, configuring, adjusting and upgrading Linux and Windows systems and resolving any problems that occur.
  • Establish backup procedures and tools for the team.
  • Work with vendors on new SW and HW incorporation, examination and usage.
Requirements

  • Must possess an active Secret clearance.
  • DoD recognized System Administrator and/or Network Engineering Professional Certification, i.e., Network+, Linux+, CCNA, CNP, et. al. required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related degree from an accredited college/university and eight to ten years of related experience.
  • Proven experience as a Network Project Engineer or relevant position.
  • Experience configuring and managing Cisco switches.
  • Experience writing scripts and tools for automation.
  • Experience performing system updates and patches.
  • Experience troubleshooting system issues and resolving technical problems.
  • Experience managing user accounts and permissions.
  • Experience creating and maintaining system backups.
  • Proficient in Linux command line, scripting, etc.
  • Proficient with Virtual Machine and Distributed computing; networking to enable those operations.
  • Critical Thinker: ability to solve problems/issues; ability to lead others in teaming environment.
  • Expected travel up to 35%.

Note:

  • Expect to be on-site for the majority of working hours and will need to be present for all critical operations and all underway events.
  • Expect to go to sea with the project in the local operating areas and during critical phases of developmental deployments.

An essential qualification for this position is successfully obtaining a Secret security clearance issued by the Federal Government, which may require successful completion of a background check.


AUSGAR's salary range is dependent upon a variety of factors, which include experience, skills, education, certifications and geographical location. Our salary range includes a base salary and excellent benefits package as part of our total compensation.
