The Campus Library Specialist (CLS) coordinates daily operations of campus library circulation, including newer services such as technology device lending. Specialists oversee at least one functional area of the library, such as: course reserves, receiving and processing new materials and serials, stacks maintenance and inventory, or Federal Work Study student supervision. The CLS takes the lead in policy and procedure development, review, and improvement in their assigned area(s). The Campus Library Specialist directly supports the Library’s mission of fostering student success.

The work schedule for this position is flexible and may include working evenings and weekends.

 


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide patron-focused customer service
  • Use the Sierra integrated library system and other support systems to circulate materials
  • Provide basic reference assistance and first line technical support
  • Conduct stacks maintenance, inventory and local campus processing of new library materials
  • Hire, train, and supervise student aides Prepare course reserves
  • Collect and compile data and statistics to help inform library decisions
  • Implement and enforce library policies and procedures
  • Participate in Library or College committees and work groups

 

Job Requirements:

  • Associates degree and
  • Two years of relevant library, technology support, or customer service experience

or

  • Candidates who possess similar minimum objective qualifications should describe in detail the education and work experience you regard as establishing the equivalency

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Significant customer service skills and experience and/or library experience
  • Demonstrated comfort and ability to work with complex technologies
  • Understanding of the community college mission and the ability to work cooperatively and effectively within a diverse community
  • Ability to work in an independent, self-directed manner, seeking guidance as appropriate
  • Work well in a team-based environment
  • Problem-solving skills based on logical reasoning
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex information clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
