Bargaining Unit: MEA Administrators, Level IV

 

Starting Salary Range: $55,214.87 - $72,042.91

 


Benefits:

Responsibilities:

SMCC seeks applications from experienced financial aid professionals to fill a crucial role in a fast-paced, high volume department critical to student success. The successful applicant will be expected to perform the following duties:

  • Administer federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs including scholarships, grants, student employment, and loans.
  • Review, verify, and award aid to students.
  • Review requests for special consideration, dependency overrides, and professional judgement changes.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations pertaining to the administration of financial aid.
  • Work with multiple student information systems including, but not limited to: PowerFAIDS, Jenzabar, Anthology, COD, NSLDS, and FPS. Be proficient in office software (Google, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Serve as the primary contact for federal loan processing, monitor entrance and exit counseling, and lead campus default management efforts.
  • Monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress and review SAP appeals.
  • Hire, train, and supervise front office staff (financial aid counselors, student employees) and provide back up support as needed.
  • Counsel students and families regarding financial aid and the financial aid application process.
  • Evaluate processes and procedures to improve customer service and efficiency.
  • Create forms and documents as needed to collect information required for file review.
  • Communicate regularly with Student Accounts, Registration, Advising, and other offices.
  • Develop statistical reports as required.
  • Determine employment eligibility for students and monitor the America Reads program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, education or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • At least three years of experience in post-secondary financial aid.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in business, finance, education or related field from an accredited college or university.

 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

  • Understanding of current financial aid federal rules and regulations; experience with student information systems.
  • Experience administering post-secondary financial aid. Knowledge of PowerFaids, EdConnect, COD, CPS, and U.S. Department of Education software.
