Job Description

The Graphic Design program at Keene State College seeks a dynamic graphic designer, photographer, or digital media artist to teach ART 253 Digital Imaging, a sophomore-level course for the Fall 2024 semester.  This is a part-time, non-benefitted position.

Course Description: ART 253 Digital Imaging (4 Credits — T/TH 12-1:45 PM)
A studio investigation of digital image creation and visual literacy as it relates to photography and new media in the twenty-first century. This course includes an extensive introduction to Adobe Photoshop, image manipulation and preparing digital images for print, web, and other digital media. Core skills developed include image adjustment, layering and compositing, selection tools, brushes, ideation, and the development of visual concepts. Content reinforces and enhances conceptual and critical visualization skills, image-making methods, and production techniques introduced in lower-level classes. Instruction will be in person.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or the media arts (work experience may be considered in lieu of the Master’s degree); three years of recent and successful work experience in the visual communication field; excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional community and student population.  

The successful candidate will also have the following technical proficiencies: 
  • Mac OS (and Windows)
  • Professional Digital Imaging Experience
  • Photographic Expertise
  • Graphic Design Skills (design, layout, color, typography)
  • Adobe Photoshop and the Adobe Suite

Preferred Qualifications

Previous teaching experience; experience working with editorial, advertising, or children’s book illustration; and familiarity with or ability to use learning management systems and other technology for course delivery.  Additionally, the College has identified desirable qualifications that support our commitment to creating and maintaining a diverse campus community including the ability to speak a second language or to bring a multicultural perspective to the campus.
