Job Summary- The TLC Director supports and facilitates the development, implementation, and assessment of professional and organizational development for all faculty and staff at Midland College in a collaborative environment built on mutual respect, innovation, and continuous improvement. The TLC Director will provide leadership through the development of workshops, seminars, and other programs to increase employee engagement in professional development opportunities on a variety of relevant topics.
The TLC Director plays a key leadership role in developing and expanding professional development opportunities across Midland College. This position is integral in connecting employees from different administrative divisions, planning and implementing college-wide initiatives and events, and onboarding new employees to the organization. The TLC Director will work collaboratively with other divisions on employee engagement activities and initiatives to improve workplace quality at Midland College.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited university
- Professional experience in higher education or as a trainer or teacher
- Strong leadership and interpersonal communication skills
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, a good driving record, and be insurable on Midland College’s insurance policy
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years experience as a corporate trainer, professional development specialist, organizational development officer, or similar role
- College-level teaching experience in multiple modalities
- Demonstrated Supervisory experience
- Higher education leadership experience
- Demonstrated ability to connect with and influence coworkers at all levels of an organization
- Demonstrated ability to develop and lead professional development programs
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate the development and implementation of processes and procedures that support department- or organization-wide projects or initiatives
Essential Functions
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the Teaching & Learning Center (TLC) to offer professional development programs to all Midland College employees
- Collaborate with key faculty, staff, and other stakeholders regarding the development and general operation of the Teaching and Learning Center
- Recruit and manage faculty and staff partners to enhance professional development through peer-led programming
- Plan, coordinate, and implement college-wide In-Service Weeks before the start of each semester
- Collaborate across administrative units to strengthen the capacity of the TLC to engage employees
- Support new faculty and staff through the ongoing maintenance of the New Employee Experience and TLC onboarding program
- Lead the development of high-quality, relevant content for the employee learning management system
- Plan, organize, and lead workshops, seminars, and programs to engage employees in relevant professional development topics
- Provide consultation and leadership for select college-wide events, such us employee convocation
- Evaluate and inform faculty on emerging learning technologies and recommend and model best practices
- Provide leadership over the training and support for the college-wide student learning management system (Canvas)
- Oversee the completion of annual compliance training to meet federal, state, and accreditation requirements
- Engage full and part-time employees at all Midland College campuses and teaching sites, including service area high schools
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
- The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus
- This position may require occasional travel for training, meetings, and events both in and out of town
- Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
- Use of manual dexterity
- The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
- Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 25 pounds

- Ability to work extended hours and attend Midland College or community events
Security Sensitivity- All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.
Pay Statement- Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
